At the Sindh Boy Scouts Association (SBSA), we believe in being prepared for emergencies at the grassroots level. That’s why we have established District Rescue Teams in every district of Sindh. These teams are comprised of well-trained scouts who are ready to respond swiftly and effectively in times of need.
In the wake of the recent torrential rains inundating Karachi, the Sindh Boy Scouts Association, in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, swiftly sprang into action to aid affected communities. Under the guidance of Sindh Boy Scouts Association Provincial Commissioner and Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, along with Provincial Secretary Syed Akhtar Mir, our dedicated rescue teams ventured into Saadi Town, Yousuf Goth, Superhighway, and neighboring areas.
Our scouts actively participated in relief efforts alongside the Pakistan Army and other agencies, offering assistance during the flood crisis. Their tireless dedication and efficient coordination drew praise from the officers of the Pakistan Army, who commended their performance. Their acknowledgment underscores the vital role our scouts play in serving the country and its citizens during times of need, reaffirming our commitment to continued service and support for our nation.
Our scouts are trained to handle various accidents and emergencies, include:
Road Accidents: If there’s a crash on the road, we’re there to help the injured until ambulances arrive. We give them first aid and comfort them until they can get to the hospital.
Building Collapses: When buildings fall down, we search for people who might be trapped. We give them medical help and make sure the area is safe for everyone.
In addition to responding to large-scale disasters, our District Rescue Teams are actively involved in addressing medical emergencies at the local level. This includes:
Medical Camps: Our scouts organize and participate in medical camps during Moharram ul Haram, floods, COVID-19 outbreaks, and blood donation drives. These camps provide essential medical services to underserved communities, including health check-ups, vaccinations, and blood donation facilities.
First Aid Services: Our scouts are trained in first aid and are always ready to provide assistance during emergencies. Whether it’s during Moharram processions, road accidents, or other crises, our scouts are there to lend a helping hand, offering first aid services and ensuring the well-being of those in need.
Our Rescue Teams are actively involved in various humanitarian initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable communities and individuals:
Iftar Drive: During the month of Ramadan, our scouts organize iftar drives to distribute food to those in need, ensuring that everyone can break their fast with dignity and comfort.
Refugee Support: We provide support to refugees and displaced persons, offering shelter, food, and other essential supplies to those who have been forced to flee their homes due to conflict or natural disasters.
Community Outreach: Our scouts engage in community outreach activities, including rashan (food) distribution and educational support programs. We strive to uplift and empower marginalized communities through education, skill-building workshops, and awareness campaigns.
