Currently serving as the Federal Insurance Ombudsman of Pakistan, Mr. Shah is recognized for his leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public welfare.

Chief Secretary of Sindh (2019–2022)

Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah retired as the Chief Secretary of Sindh in March 2022, after an impactful tenure of over three years. As the highest-ranking officer in the province, he played a pivotal role in driving policies, overseeing governance, and ensuring efficient public administration. His tenure reflected a deep understanding of Sindh’s socio-economic challenges and opportunities.

Mr. Shah’s career in civil service is a testament to his ability to lead from the front. Serving in some of the most challenging and strategic roles, he ascended to BS-22, the highest rank in Pakistan’s civil service. His roles include:

His journey began as an Assistant Commissioner in Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab, and he continued to serve as Deputy Commissioner and District Coordination Officer (DCO) in key districts across Pakistan, including Thatta, Umerkot, Badin, Mirpurkhas (Sindh), and Nasirabad (Balochistan). These roles demonstrated his exceptional administrative expertise and his ability to manage complex regional challenges.

Managing Director, Sindh Small Industries Corporation (1994–1997):

Spearheaded industrial growth by implementing strategic reforms, restructuring the organization, and making it sustainable.

CEO/Executive Director, National Insurance Company Ltd. (2012):

Led the organization through a challenging period, ensuring stability and operational efficiency in the insurance sector.

Chairman, Export Processing Zones Authority:

Played a key role in boosting Pakistan’s export capabilities by fostering industrial growth in special economic zones.

Chairman, Karachi Port Trust (2017–2018):

His tenure was instrumental in enhancing maritime operations and optimizing port facilities, contributing to Pakistan’s economic growth.
